Cloudflare does not support traditional Secondary DNS, which can be problematic for redundancy purposes. *However, you can use Cloudflare as a secondary provider if using DigiCert DNS or another provider (as primary) that supports traditional secondary DNS.
DigiCert DNS Secondary DNS
DigiCert DNS Trust Manager supports traditional secondary DNS, which means you can use us as your primary or secondary provider. We work well with Cloudflare, but in order to use them alongside DigiCert, we would need to be your primary DNS provider.

Cloudflare: Load Balancing
Cloudflare’s Load Balancing service includes failover, which allows you to distribute traffic evenly across servers and to configure health checks that monitor your endpoints. If your primary endpoint goes down, your traffic will automatically be routed to the backup IP/host in your configuration. You can also customize monitoring rules and health check intervals.
DigiCert DNS Trust Manager: Failover
DNS Made Easy’s Failover solution operates similarly to Cloudflare’s and our load balancing feature also allows traffic to be distributed evenly across servers. One additional step we take is to ensure your alternative resources are healthy and available before redirecting traffic, which prevents unnecessary downtime.
